Peace Corps Authors: A Bibliography

The purpose of Peace Corps Authors: A Bibliography is to build a comprehensive list of all books written by Peace Corps volunteers and staff.

Peace Corps Authors: A Bibliography incorporates the rich bibliography developed by John Coyne (Ethiopia 1962-64), and Marian Haley Beil (Ethiopia 1962-64), founders of Peace Corps Writers and mentors to many authors. Additional records come from the work of Lawrence F. Lihosit (Honduras 1975-1977), Library of Congress, and Washington Research Library Consortium. More titles are added as Museum curators learn of them.

Books can be searched by author, title, or publication date. If you wish to see all information in a record, including the publisher, click on the book title and the comprehensive “Library” record will appear. Many entries include the author’s country and dates of service. Some entries offer descriptions of book contents and awards received by authors.

We want to hear from Peace Corps authors who are not yet included in this bibliography. Please add a comment below and include book information if it is missing from the database.

Peace Corps Authors: A Bibliography supports the education and research mission of Museum of the Peace Corps Experience.

This is wonderful and so needed. Thank you all for the work, begun almost 35 years ago by John Coyne and Marian Haley Beil with their

newletter promoting the work of Peace Corps Authors.

You have one of my books listed already: A Hundred Fires in Cuba. I’ve just come out with another novel, The World Against Her Skin. You can see it at johnthorndike.com. In this book, both mother and son serve in the Peace Corps, in Chile and Guatemala.

I hope this is the right place to be notifying you about this book—and many thanks for your dedication to this project.

We are so happy to have a place for PC authors on line. We expect this bibliography to grow as more PCV’s write their stories to share with the rest of us.
