The Museum of the Peace Corps Experience (MPCE) is pleased to announce its newest Board Member, Dawn Crosby, who joined the MPCE Board of Directors this past September. Dawn served as a Cooperatives Promotion Volunteer in Paraguay from 1998 – 2000. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Kimberlina Whettam & Associates, Inc., a real estate development consulting firm in Los Angeles, CA. Dawn and her employer Kimberlina first met as Peace Corps Trainees in Paraguay over 20 years ago and have remained friends since service.
Dawn is a Senior Executive with 30 years of experience in business, non-profit management, US federal civil service and international development program management. She has managed development programs for both the US and UK governments in the areas of economic development; primary healthcare; private sector solutions for health; environmental management and agriculture. In the business sector, Dawn managed big box retail operations with 200+ employees. In the non-profit sector, Dawn co-founded a scholarship fund which supported survivors of domestic violence in post-secondary education and marketable job skills training. She has professional work experience in 19 countries across the Americas, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Dawn served for almost eight years as the Director of Programming and Training for the Peace Corps in Paraguay and Peru. She also served on the Field Advisory Board for the Peace Corps and as the US Ambassador’s representative to the Board of the American School of Asuncion. She has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from American University and a Global Executive MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Outside of her day job and Board service, Dawn enjoys sports, especially ocean and pool swimming, and being a mom to two amazing kids.
When asked why she was interested in joining the Museum, Dawn says, “Supporting the efforts of the Museum in sharing stories from across the globe to promote peace and cross-cultural understanding is one of the most inspiring opportunities to continue to serve.” She will join the Museum’s marketing and communication team and serve on the MPCE Financial Oversight Committee.
