The Museum of the Peace Corps Experience (MPCE) is excited to participate in Peace Corps Connect 2026, the National Peace Corps Association’s annual conference, taking place July 18–19 in Washington, D.C. As Returned Peace Corps Volunteers from across the country gather to celebrate the Peace Corps’ 65th anniversary and America’s 250th anniversary, the Museum looks forward to connecting with old friends, meeting new supporters, and sharing an exciting preview of what’s ahead.

Throughout the conference, Museum volunteers and Board members will be staffing an exhibit table in the Commons, where visitors can learn about the Museum’s growing collections, upcoming exhibitions, volunteer opportunities, and plans for preserving the Peace Corps story for future generations. Whether you have an artifact to donate, a story to share, or simply want to learn more about our work, we hope you’ll stop by and spend some time with us.

Conference attendees are also invited to attend the Museum’s interactive workshop: Peace Corps 65, America 250: How Peace Corps Becomes Public Memory

As the Peace Corps marks its 65th anniversary and the nation prepares for America 250, this interactive session explores how service becomes part of our shared history. Museum leaders and preservation partners will examine why preserving stories, artifacts, photographs, and lived experiences matters now more than ever. Participants will also be invited to reflect on their own service and consider what should be remembered, preserved, and shared with future generations.

In addition to presentations and conversations, the conference will feature a soft launch of the Museum Store. Visitors will be among the first to preview a growing collection of Museum merchandise celebrating Peace Corps service, international friendship, and global citizenship. Proceeds from every purchase will directly support the Museum’s exhibitions, educational programming, collections stewardship, and public engagement initiatives.

The Museum is currently preparing its landmark fall 2026 exhibition, 65 Objects That Changed the World, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C. The exhibition will commemorate both the 65th Anniversary of the Peace Corps and America 250, exploring how ordinary acts of service have shaped lives, communities, and international understanding for more than six decades.

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer, recently returned from service, or simply curious about the Museum’s work, we invite you to visit us in the Commons, attend our presentation, browse the Museum Store, and learn how you can help preserve the remarkable story of the Peace Corps.

We look forward to seeing you in Washington!
